By far the best Chalado I've ever had! The fruit is fresh and plentiful I've been there a number of times and I've never been let down. The other sweets they have there also look delicious, but I keep going back for the Cholados. If you want a treat then don't hesitate to go there!
Been going for years for tasty cholado. If you like fruit and cold sweets this is for you. It's a mix of fresh fruit, syrups, shave ice and condensed milk for a refreshing dessert. It is a bit pricey so I would equate it to getting a smoothie since it has so much fresh fruit (it's 10 dollars now) I would recommend to bring cash only. The workers there are quick and friendly. It's good to try at least once.
I have been coming to El Palacio de Los Cholados for over 10 years. I was in the mood for a Cholado and I must say, as usual they did not disappoint. I have to begin by saying that the service has gotten way better and you no longer have to wait more than 5 minutes for your order. They are also accepting credit cards which is convenient. I remember once upon a time they would only accept cash. Now, back to the Cholados. They were beyond delicious, packed with shredded ice, blackberry juice, sliced strawberries, sliced watermelon, banana, shaved coconut, topped with condensed milk (Lecherita) and a cherry on top making it just the perfect dessert on a hot summer day, but I can have a Cholado any time of the year.
I have not gotten a cholado here in years and it sure did not disappoint. We tried their Maracuya cholado and a mora cholado. The Maracuya was absolutely delicious and had pieces of all types of fruit, including guanabana which was a nice treat. It all combined so well with the shredded coconut and condensed milk. The other cholado we got was also very tasty. It had condensed milk, shaved ice, blackberry, banana and shredded coconut. The prices range from $10-11 which is a bit pricey but worth it. If you want an authentic Colombian cholado, give this place a try.
Always a delicious treat!! Especially on a hot summer day! Fresh fruit and sweet cream!
Cholado's are fairly new to me. I never tried one until today but I've definitely heard it being mentioned by friends and people in Jackson Heights. It's really fascinating how shaved ice desserts exist in almost every culture of the world. For example, Korea has their bing soo, Indonesia has Es Teler, Filipinos have halo halo, Italians has ..um Italian ice (not really sure ..is it really from Italy?) but all has their own unique recipes. It's a fairly simple recipe here that works for me. It has condensed milk, fruit syrup, shaved ice, fruits (strawberry and bananas), and coconut shredding. Both refreshing and sweet, Id definitely come back again. Drinking the cholado, I did find the coconut shreds to be annoying and getting caught in my throat. I'd likely skip the fruits and coconut next time. Its cash only and only 2 workers from what I can tell. Drink was $8 with all the fruits in August 2019
Ended up at El Palacio de Los Cholados on a hunt for some dessert. The line was out the door. They have a lot of counter space, but nothing really on display. The menu is in Spanish. There is no description for any of their items anyway. I had no idea what a cholado was, but fortunately my companion went ahead and just ordered for me. I got a cup of shaved ice with blackberry and passion fruit syrups, pineapple chunks, coconut shavings, banana slices, and strawberries, topped with maraschino cherries and condensed milk. It was basically a fruity sugar bomb, perfect for a warm summer night. Reminded me of Filipino halo halo, or a Korean patbingsu. The price isn't bad either at $8, especially for fresh fruit.
